Focus Is Finite: Why Fewer Goals Create Bigger Change

Hot take for the New Year: too many goals is not a good thing.

Your focus is finite. Your energy is finite. And when you try to chase ten goals at once, you usually end up exhausted, scattered, and starting over… again.

So here’s the shift I’m making this year: One week at a time. One focus at a time.

Pick one goal for the week and put your energy there—fully. Example weekly focus: “All meals at home.” Cooking, baking, eating from home. No eating out. Simple, clear, doable. One focus calms your brain, reduces decision fatigue, and actually builds momentum. Keep your yearly goals small on purpose

For the whole year? Five goals max. Not because you’re “doing less,” but because you’re protecting your ability to follow through.

Check in often. Realign. Pivot when life changes (because it will). Keep it realistic. No more resolutions. Commitments instead.

Resolutions are usually fueled by guilt and January hype. Commitments are grounded. Personal. Real.

And here’s the truth:
Even if you only commit to one thing this year… make it count. One week at a time. One focus at a time. You’ve got this.
