There’s something about this time of year that always stirs something deep inside me. Maybe it’s the way the air shifts after summer, softer somehow, carrying with it both an ending and a beginning.

As a child, fall meant more than just leaves changing—it was the start of a new school year, a fresh slate. Summer’s freedom gave way to structure, to learning, to growing. I actually loved that rhythm, the way one season handed me over to the next.

I’ve lived in Ohio my whole life, and maybe that’s why I’m so rooted in the turning of the seasons. Each one feels like its own story, its own lesson. When I lived in Florida, where the weather hardly changed, I didn’t flourish. It felt like being trapped in a single chapter, reading the same lines over and over. Life isn’t meant to stay that still. Life, like the seasons, is meant to move.

And the truth is—we all have our own seasons of life. Sometimes they’re bright with possibility, other times they’re heavy with loss. I think of people who find themselves walking through divorce or heartbreak—it’s its own kind of winter. The death of what was. A chapter closing, often before you were ready. And yet, even that painful season carries us forward, asking us to trust that spring will come again.

I’ve had my winters, too. The kind that strips you down until you wonder if anything will bloom again. But here’s what I’ve learned: no season lasts forever. Each one passes, each one reshapes us. And even in the hardest seasons, there’s always something worth noticing—the beauty in a sunset, the comfort of a familiar place, the reminder that you’re still here.

Right now, we’re standing on the edge of summer and fall. A time of change, of transition. And it’s asking me—what am I ready to let go of? What am I willing to step into?

I don’t want to cling to what’s already passed. I don’t want to live waiting only for what’s next. I want to be fully present in this season. Because life moves like a river, always flowing, and so must I.

And so must you.

The seasons will keep changing. The world will keep moving. And we will, too. Always forward.

3 Things to Carry With You:

– 🌿 Notice where you are right now. What season of life are you in—growth, release, rest, or renewal?

– 🍂 Let something go. Just as the trees drop their leaves, ask yourself what you’re ready to release so you can move forward lighter.

– 🌸 Trust what’s ahead. Every season changes. Spring always returns, even if the winter feels long.
